- Over 80 KSI Quimper students participated and learned about the significance of Chuseok
On September 19, KSI Quimper, located in the Brittany region of northwestern France, held a Chuseok Event with its students. The institute, consisting of a head teacher, staff, and two dispatched instructors, plays a pivotal role in promoting the Korean language and culture in northwestern France. Over 80 students from KSI Quimper, from classes 1 through 7, participated in the event, where they learned about the significance of Chuseok and spent time bonding through games.
Before entering the event venue, students from KSI Quimper participated in an activity called “Make a Wish to the Moon!” where they wrote down their wishes on pieces of paper and attached them to a wall. After placing their wishes, students drew their raffle numbers and entered the venue, where they sat by class.

The event officially began with an opening speech by Head Teacher Kim Myung-yul, followed by a program led by Coordinator Yoon Hyun-ji. After the opening speech, the first part of the Chuseok celebration involved learning about the significance of Chuseok. This was followed by a quiz game, where students enthusiastically participated. Prizes such as ramen, dumplings, snacks, and other Korean food items were awarded to the winners. The second game was the Bean Transfer game, using wooden chopsticks. Representatives from each class competed fiercely for one minute, with Wojcik Eulalie from Class 6 emerging as the winner.

Next, the class representatives participated in the “Act It Out” game, where they had to express Korean vocabulary using only body language, while the remaining five classmates had to guess the words within three minutes. Class 2 successfully guessed all the words in just 1 minute and 57 seconds, and the entire class received prizes for their victory. Finally, the event concluded on a cheerful note as 10 students received “lucky gifts” through a raffle with the numbers drawn during the wish-making activity.

Dispatched instructors Seo Hyi-gyeong and Son Ji-su, along with Coordinator Yoon Hyun-ji, held multiple meetings starting a month before the event to brainstorm ideas and divide tasks, collaborating to ensure the success of the Chuseok celebration. Thanks to their efforts, the event was a resounding success.
Coordinator Yoon Hyun-ji shared her thoughts, saying, “I felt proud as a coordinator seeing the students enjoy the Chuseok celebration. It was a meaningful event where students had the opportunity to learn about and understand Korean holidays and culture. It also provided a great chance for students to gather, interact, and bond with one another.”
